Emmy Fashion Report: The Bold & The Beautiful!
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- There were no shrinking violets on the Emmy Awards red carpet Sunday night, with stars wearing bold red from Lea Micheles dress to Christina Hendricks lips as well as strapless necklines and more than a little bit of glitter. The early buzz was about Micheles sophisticated Marchesa dress: She had the look of a seasoned star instead of starlet. She wore a plain-front, low draped back with rosette sleeves that really let her work the crowd. She gave fans lined outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles a big wink. There was some high fashion, too, including Julianna Margulies in a strapless Giorgio Armani Prive gown, with a stiff crescent-shaped bustier and embellished with clear oval stones and shimmery paillettes. Couture is a bit more of a risk and requires confidence. Its a good thing Margulies, who told E! she picked her dress late last night, has that. Gwyneth Paltrow, in a black-sequin number by Emilio Pucci, also has the presence to pull off the belly baring look she was sporting, but the jurys still out on whether it was too see-through. She said she didnt realize just how sheer it was until she got there. Some celebrities have been thinking about their outfits for weeks. Sarah Hyland collaborated with Christian Siriano to create her one-shoulder, coral-colored gown with a jeweled waistband. Heidi Klum trusted Siriano, a Project Runway alum, to come up with her mushroom-colored strapless gown with a pouffy, asymmetrical hemline. I love him. Hes just a wonderful person. I like to give my designers some props, said Klum, of her flirty dress. It has an old-fashioned feel but its glamorous. Red was the hot color, on Kate Winslet in her cap-sleeve Elie Saab which seemed so covered until she flashed the cleavage and on Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan and Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. But the electric blue that emerged as a runway trend for spring just last week in NYwas well represented here. Claire Danes wore a fully beaded strapless gown in bright blue by Oscar de la Renta; Dianna Agron in a Roksanda Ilincic; and Amy Poehler in a T-shirt-style iridescent dress by Peter Som. Two Mad Men sirens opted for sexy, beaded, head-turning looks, with Elisabeth Moss in a second-skin Marchesa and Christina Hendricks in a Johanna Johannsson with an open V-neck. It was the only dress. I tried it on and it was perfect. Copyright 2011 by Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Ensembles savor Emmy red-colored carpet
Because the temperature around the red-colored carpet hit about 120 levels Sunday mid-day, the swarms came. Everywhere you looked, there is a cast member from "Friday Evening Lights," "Glee," "Modern Family," "Boardwalk Empire" or "Bet on Thrones."TV's trend of expansive ensemble casts was strongly highlighted outdoors the Nokia Theater as categories of thesps as large as baseball teams walked carpeting to use a final push prior to the large show started."Who wouldn't desire to be here," stated Angela Kinsey of "WorkInch -- a pioneer within the large-cast movement. For that "Friday Evening Lights" cast, the Emmycast actually was a reunion because the show finished shooting its final season at least a year ago. A reunion party on Saturday evening (at Hollywood's Dillon's Pub, properly enough) place them all inside a full-hearts-obvious-eyes-can't-lose mood."We have all remained tight, but this is actually our last large opportunity to meet upInch like a group, stated Derek Phillips, also known as Billy Riggins, because he wandered carpeting with Kaira Leland (also known as Buddy Garrity). However, there is much talk one of the "FNL" troops concerning the prospect of the movie, that is stated to become greatly around the steps for success for Peter Berg and key creatives at Universal. Connie Britton, for just one, is wanting to view it happen."I'll do Tami Taylor 'til the cows get home, once we say in Texas," Britton stated.Zach Gilford (also known as Matt Saracen) was pleased to hang again with all of his former teammates. But getting been abroad within the last couple of several weeks shooting movies, he confessed to some need to go back home towards the new passion for his existence: a mutt he's just adopted from a pet shelter. "I acquired him off dying row," Gilford stated, happily.**If Jon Cryer was irritated through the prospect of running into Charlie Sheen in the Emmy ceremony, he wasn't showing it. They haven't spoken since Sheen made his exit from "2 . 5 Males" in March, but Cryer wasn't searching to prevent his former co-star. "Basically get the opportunity to determine him I'll speak with him," he stated. What might he say? "I'd say what anybody would tell a buddy who went batshit crazy."**This season marks 26 consecutive Emmy events for Warner Bros. TV prexy Peter Roth. The one which sticks out in the thoughts are 2003, when WBTV's "Free Airline Wing" and "Buddies" required the very best drama and comedy series honours. "I really like it's a celebration of TV," he stated from the kudofest. Because he walked into the theater, Roth stated he'd donĂ¢t worry by what the erstwhile star of "2 . 5 Males," Charlie Sheen, might say at his time in the Emmy mike. "Not concerned within the smallest," he stated. Because it switched out, he did not have to be.--Throw Lorre wasn't going there using the inevitable Charlie Sheen questions, either, because he walked carpeting with "Large Bang Theory" co-creator Bill Prady. Prady gave him comedy cover sometimes once the questioner did not obtain the hint. Requested what their publish-show plans were, Prady joked: "Chuck is really a party animal, so tonight is all about maintaining with Chuck. We'll be out until" Prady stated, before Lorre interjected: "Ten."**Margo Martindale's signature honours-show apparel is one thing that nobody is ever going to see in public places: her lucky pink training pants. She was putting on them they day she was initially getting outfitted to experience the indominatble Magazines Bennett on "Justified." She really did not see them but her costumer pointed them out. They have been her undergarment ace in the hole since.--All the 9/11 remembrances of history couple of days have experienced a unique resonance for "The Astonishing Race" team. The show opened on Sept. 5, 2001, so when the attacks hit the development had numerous deck hands shooting in a variety of spots in the centre East. Jonathan Littman, prexy of Jerry Bruckheimer TV as well as an professional producer of "Race," was believing that the show would not visit a second episode. "I was certain CBS would pull us," he stated. "And here i am ten years later. I believe maybe this show has been doing a bit to exhibit people who the planet is not this type of harmful place, which everyone does not hate People in america available."**"Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes and wife Emma were tickled to understand that simply because they walked from the limo in the Nokia, the premiere episode of "Abbey's" second season was finishing airing around the BBC (it'll bow in The month of january on PBS). The expertise of getting popular on sides of water-feature continues to be "remarkable," Fellowes stated. "You cant ever predict this stuff, **Nobody was getting a harder time coping with warmth from the mid-day than "Justified's" Walton Goggins, who had been sweating containers because he made the models. But he wasn't going to stop doing his duty because he'll take any opportunity to talk in the show and also the character, Boyd Crowder, he loves a lot. Although he's as intense because it will get, Goggins loves the dark humor the scribes inject towards the character. And that he loves doing that distinctive voice, that they credits towards the inspiration of Elmore Leonard's words. "Elmore Leonard is so awesome, and Timothy Olyphant is awesome, and thus when these words began being released of my mouth I understood I needed to try to make sure they are seem awesome, and poetic."**Rico Rodriguez stored totally awesome as his publicist wandered him beyond the screaming bleachers to talk up reporters around the red-colored carpet. As his fame has jumped previously year with "Modern Family's" success, how has Rico handled to help keep a semblance of the normal existence for any 13-year-old boy? By edict of his parents. "They always let me know 'When you go without your clothes, you are still Rico.' And in addition they cause me to feel do chores." Like getting the garbage.--Oh yea, the dilemma from the dress. "Mad Men's" Jessica Pare could not decide whether to choose sequins or down on her first Emmy Honours turn, so she found an application-fitting gown that combined both. "The Large Bang Theory's" Kaley Cuoco put great effort and time into choosing her frock. She attempted on a minimum of 70, and ended up choosing the first she attempted. "Now we all know -- it certainly is the very first dress," she stated.**For Edie Falco, the highlight of visiting L.A. for honours months are the opportunity to see old buddies, including "Sopranos" alums Terence Winter and Matthew Weiner. So was she conflicted about who to root for within the drama series category, Winter's "Boardwalk Empire" or Weiner's "Mad Males"?"I do not know who's up," she stated, well. "I simply come, placed on an outfit and spend time with my buddies."**Louis C.K. were built with a energetic morning before going to the Nokia. He went for any lengthy jog, capped off with a Twinkie in the morning. He'd no anticipation of winning charge comedy actor warmth for his oddball Forex laffer "Louie," but they know the need for truly being asked towards the Emmy dance. "It is a reward to (Forex topper) John Landgraf for which makes it," he stated. "So perhaps this means just a little extended airtime over time." 20 Other Anticlimactic 'Star Trek 2' Confirmations
It's now, finally, being reported that J.J. Abrams is officially directing a sequel to 'Star Trek.' On May 9, 2009 -- the day after 'Star Trek' premiered in theaters -- society mostly knew that J.J. Abrams would direct a sequel; I own a pet turtle that I've caught eating its own poop -- and even my turtle was sentient enough to have realized, months ago, that J.J. Abrams would direct a second 'Star Trek' film. Yet, here we are, with the anticlimactic confirmation that Abrams is coming back. So, while we are at it, here are 20 more 'Star Trek 2' confirmations that are just as unexpected as this Abrams news. 1. J.J. Abrams will wear glasses while filming 'Star Trek 2.' 2. Captain Kirk will be played by an adult human male in 'Star Trek 2.' 3. Someone on the bridge of the USS Enterprise will, at some point, lose his or her balance. 4. Simon Pegg will Tweet from the set of 'Star Trek 2.' 5. Chekov will speak with a Russian accent in 'Star Trek 2.' 6. William Shatner will be mad about something that happens in 'Star Trek 2.' 7. 'Star Trek 2' will probably take place after the events of 'Star Trek.' 8. I will really like 'Star Trek 2' on its first viewing, but like it less and less after time. 9. Hayden Christensen will not be in 'Star Trek 2.' 10. In 'Star Trek 2,' Dr. McCoy will be in the general vicinity of someone who is dead. Also, James Kirk will be in the same vicinity. 11. In 'Star Trek 2,' at least one person from the crew of the USS Enterprise will meet a being who doesn't like that particular crewmember. 12. My mom will not see 'Star Trek 2.' 13. Scotty will speak with a Scottish accent in 'Star Trek 2.' 14. 'Star Trek 2' will take advantage of a special effects technique called "Computer Generated Images." 15. My Mom might see 'Star Trek 2' if Kevin Costner is cast in a role. 16. Dr. Leonard McCoy will use James Kirk's less formal name, Jim, but Kirk will never refer to McCoy as Lenny. 17. My mom also might see 'Star Trek 2' if Tom Selleck is cast in a role. 18. Kenny Loggins will not sing the title song from the 'Star Trek 2 Official Motion Picture Soundtrack.' 19. After seeing 'Star Trek 2' for the first time, I will probably offer Paramount an overenthusiastic blurb along the lines of "Warp Factor 10 out of 10" -- and then regret that blurb three months later. 20. I will lose my job because of that blurb and forever be known as the "Warp Factor 10 guy." You can contact Mike Ryan directly on Twitter. Follow Moviefone on Twitter. Watch The Hangover 2 Online
