Ridley Scott on 'Prometheus': There Won't Be Any Xenomorphs

And also the 'Prometheus' plot thickens. Ridley Scott's first sci-fi flick in 30 years might be loosely associated with the 'Alien' franchise, however the director wants you to definitely acquire one factor obvious: There'll not, under any conditions, be xenomorphs (the creature in the 'Alien' movies) in 'Prometheus.' Within an interview with Filmophilia, Scott says his approaching movie won't feature the famous extra-terrestrials Sigourney Weaver fought against off for a long time. "No. Definitely not. They squashed it dry," confesses Scott. "[The xenomorph] did perfectly. He made it, he's now in Disneyland in Orlando, with no way shall we be held returning there. How did he finish up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus!Inch Additionally to 'Promtheus,' Ridley also talked about why he has not gone to the sci-fi in almost 3 decades. I believe a primary reason why I have never gone to science-fiction, despite the fact that I have frequently noodled around, considered it, sought out story, sought out material, is that you have a nice wholesomeness towards the original Alien. It's fairly pure. And ['Prometheus'] does really raise a myriad of other questions, if someone could, a being, might be as monstrously clever to produce something similar to we familiar with the initial one -- I usually figured it is a weapon, and that i always figured that [the ship within the first 'Alien'] would be a company of weapons. Therefore, who's that, within that suit? That wasn't a skeleton, which was a suit. And when you open the suit, exactly what do you receive within it? And why were they going, where were they going? You should check out the whole interview over on Filmophilia. 'Prometheus,' which stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Idris Elba, hits theaters June 21, 2012. Shame's Late Night Lovers Pile on David Denby

When it rains it pours. Ask David Denby, the embattled, embargo-flouting NYer critic who, over the course of one week, has drawn the wrath of both Scott Rudin and Shame’s unsung co-stars Calamity Chang and DeeDee Luxe — a.k.a. Late Night Lover #1 and #2. Tough crowd! Best known as veteran performers on the NYC burlesque scene, the ladies had already taken Twitter swings at Denby’s NYer colleague (and Shame hater) Anthony Lane a couple weeks ago. This morning, a few days after Denby blogged his own disapproval of the McQueen, the duo returned to their respective Twitter pages for their latest arousing tag-team effort. It all went something like this: .bbpBox{background:url(http://a0.twimg.com/profile_background_images/55790865/Twitter_BG_Final_final.jpg) #9AE4E8;padding:20px;}Denby on “Shame”: The film “is borderline absurd, and I’m amazed that so many people seem to be taking it seriously” http://t.co/yaYOfRDASat Dec 10 22:50:04 via HootSuiteThe NYerNewYorker .bbpBox{background:url(http://a1.twimg.com/profile_background_images/274936185/wallpaper2.jpg) #F2A973;padding:20px;}He’s even grouchier! Happy Birthday, Britney Warrior spears! Celebrate by Watching This Absurd Clip from 'Crossroads'

Just like you needed more proof that Britney Warrior spears isn't a girl any longer, there's this: mom of two turns 30 today. 30! On 12 ,. 2, 1981 in McComb, Miss., Warrior spears was created, most probably making similar sounds towards the ones she makes on 'I Wanna Go' and various other pop staples. (Girl includes a factor for robot baby cooing.) While Warrior spears is better referred to as a pop celebrity -- and tabloid train wreck -- she used to be considered a superstar. Sorta! To celebrate Spears's 30th birthday, let us have a clip in the motion picture classic 'Crossroads,' with future 'Avatar' star Zoe Saldana! Happy birthday, Brit-brit! Academy To Screen First Best Pic Winner Wings For Paramounts 100th Birthday

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences said today that it will screen its first Best Picture Oscar winner, the 1927 silent film Wings, on January 18 next year as part of a celebration of Paramount Pictures’ 100th anniversary. Tickets are available beginning today. The movie, which starred Clara Bow, Charles “Buddy” Rogers, Richard Arlen and Gary Cooper, first premiered in 1927. It also was the only silent film to win the Best Picture Oscar, something worth noting especially this year with the awards buzz surrounding Michel Hazanavicius’ black-and-white silent The Artist, which the Weinstein Co is distributing and mounting a series Oscar campaign for after sweeping it up at Cannes; it already won the Best Pic award from the NY Film Critics Circle earlier this week. The Wings screening next month will be a premiere of a restoration by Paramount with the help of the Academy Film Archive, complete with live-music accompaniment on the organ by Clark Wilson. It’s part of the Academy’s Paramount celebration that includes the exhibition “Paramount’s Movie Milestones: A Centennial Celebration,” which features photographs, posters, design sketches and personal correspondence in conjunction with the studio’s birthday. The exhibit will run January 6-February 5 in the Academy’s Grand Lobby Gallery.
